• My Study Abroad Experience: Gilman Scholarship Project

*This bog post is a required part of my follow-on project for the Gilman Scholarship I received.* How I Learned About Study Abroad Opportunities Coming into college, study abroad was always something my mom encouraged me to look into. Because of this, we attended the orientation meetings about it and I kept my ears open for programs recommended for my major by my professors. As an underclassman, I would recommend researching study abroad opportunities and think about the type of program you want and if you want to go during a summer or semester. The study abroad office and website is a great resource if you are looking for information on…

  • Bus2Alps Interlaken, Switzerland: Is It Worth It?

For many of us, traveling during study abroad is the first time we have ever traveled to unknown territories alone or with other friends our age. Organizing trips can be a daunting task when you realize you need to consider transportation to the location, transportation at the location, where to stay, what to do, what to see, and how to schedule it all to get the most out of your trip without blowing all your money in one place. There are many resources available to study abroad students, such as travel companies and school trips so you do not have to organize everything yourself, but deciding which route to take…

  • How to do Venice in a Day // Day Trip to Venice

Back in February, I studied abroad in Florence, Italy and while I was there we took a day trip to Venice! We took the train an early Saturday morning, spent the day there, then took the train back to Florence. The trip took about three hours and had two changeovers. The ride wasn’t too bad, to be honest, I slept most of the way there and back. The only part of the ride that bothered me was going through all the tunnels because I had a head cold and my ears kept popping! One thing about the train is that you have to make sure to keep up with your…

  • Charleston Travel Guide

This summer my mom and I traveled to South Carolina to stay at Isle of Palms Beach and visit Charleston. When we went into Charleson, we took the water taxi over for the day so we wouldn’t have to worry about parking. Best Places to Take Photos: Not gonna lie, taking photos in Charleston was FRUSTRATING. It was hot, super sunny, there were very few places to change, and we were exhausted. I definitely recommend visiting Charleston on a cooler, overcast day or in the evening. I’ve read that people recommend going a little earlier in the evening if you plan to take photos because the buildings will cause you…
