Weekly Recap: July 1- July 7

What I Wore to my Internship this Week:

The blue and white romper with red detailing is old from a boutique in Moorehead City, NC. The patterned romper is from Alexander Brooke Boutique, shop their stuff: alexanderbrookeboutique.com . The skirt is actually shorts and old from Free People and the tank and denim jacket with it is old from Forever 21. The red jumpsuit can be found on summerbirdboutique.com !

What I did at my Internship this Week:

The past few weeks I have been STRUGGLING with clocking in and out! I almost always remember to clock in, and hardly ever remember to clock out because when it’s time to leave Tracy and I are sprinting out the door!!! So my last week before heading out to Ocean Isle we corrected my mistakes and then I left- and didn’t clock out again! Then Tuesday I came in determined to do my time perfectly and didn’t clock out AGAIN. I cannot get it under control!! LOL. I also worked at the boutique by myself for the first time! I was super excited to be trusted with that responsibility and I think it went pretty well! As always, make sure you are following @summerbirdboutique on Instagram to see all the videos I make! This week I did a Beach Outfits/Swimsuits that I was really proud of!

School this Week:

I am OVER it. Over it. Over it. Writing a simple comment on a discussion post feels like I am being forced to write a ten page paper and the reading is endless with another 70-80 pages assigned. I thought it was summer?

What I did During my Free Time this Week:

I did not have much free time this week, but I spent nearly all of it working on videos!! I filmed three separate videos on Saturday and also went with my grandmother like I always do, went into Alexander Brooke, and tie dyed some things (part of a video coming soon!). Then Sunday we left for the beach again! I cannot wait to share my trip with y’all next week! Oh! And on the Fourth I ate with my dad’s side of the family, took photos, watched the fireworks, and ate WAY too much!

What a Bought this Week:

Nothing! Go me!!

What I’ve Been Watching this Week (TV & YouTube Addict Here!!): (& my random thoughts for the week popping in!?!?)

I watched Good Trouble and America’s Next Top Model, as always, but I also added Keeping up with the Kardashian’s into the mix! But what I really want to share with y’all is one of the YouTube videos I watched this week by Dani Austin. I am going to link it right below this paragraph for y’all to watch because her honesty and rawness in the video is everything I hope I have shared with y’all on my channel. It’s not always a glamorous, picture-perfect life, we all have hard times and sharing them helps us feel less alone. Dani has been losing hair and seeing her journey of opening up about wearing wigs on camera is absolutely inspiring. It really changed my perspective because, for a while, I’ve been thinking about deleting the sorority recruitment videos on my channel because I know it is what I am most known for, especially to the people that have not stuck around since. I feel like since it is my highest viewed video at about 300,000 views, it drowns out all the fashionable, creative things I want to share. I began to feel like I didn’t want my struggles to be out there for the world anymore because it’s not what I want to be known for. Dani mentions in her video that she felt afraid of being “the blogger that wears wigs” well I feel like “the girl that got dropped by all sororities,” and sometimes I hate it. At school, I walk around feeling like every sorority girl knows about (& dislikes) me. When you type my name on YouTube, the next suggested word is “sorority.” I wish it was “fashion” or “style” or even “vlog”- anything but “sorority.” But that’s what it is. And I’m starting to be okay with it. The rawness and truth I shared has helped others and built a connection with my following, and Dani helped me feel more at peace with having shared my truth after seeing her share hers. As much as I want my content to be happy and perfect, my life isn’t and at the end of the day I want to be honest with y’all and let others going through similar things know they are not alone.

A Few Thoughts I’ve Been Having:
