Gift Guide for the Social Media Lover
Today I am launching the first of many gift guides to come with a guide for the person I am very familiar with: the Social Media Lover. I am going to be sharing products that I always get TONS of questions on. This post is my ultimate guide to everything you need to become an Influencer, Blogger, and YouTuber!
iPhone: Your phone is your most important tool whenever you’re trying to build a platform online. Believe it or not, but I only used my phone for photos for the first two years of having my blog and used it to film videos for YouTube for the first year of having my channel. I actually recommend you start with your phone to make sure this is something you want to continue and are passionate about before you commit to purchasing a camera. Your phone is your right-hand-man for posting and engaging on social media apps, taking photos, editing photos, recording videos, making blog graphics, answering emails- you could honestly create a platform for yourself with ONLY your phone, so you want it to be the latest and greatest.
Phone Tripod: The question I get the most often is how do I take my photos on my own. It’s actually really simple! I use a tripod and the self-timer feature on my phone or camera!
Phone Tripod Attachment: This is great if you already have a tripod and just want to be able to attach your phone as well!
Camera: After working with my phone for years, I received a Canon G7x Mark ii for Christmas last year. This camera is known for vlogging but is also a great camera for beginners in general and for taking simple photos for social media. I use this camera for every photo I take and I love it.
Memory Cards: To film or take photos on your camera, you will need memory cards. I recommend getting the ones with 64 GB or more so you do not have to replace them as much. You can, of course, get an external hard drive and load everything onto it and clear the memory cards, but I don’t have one of those and am not exactly sure how to use them.
Tripod: I am able to take a majority of my photos all on my own with the help of a tripod. I set the angle I want, put the camera on a self-timer and shoot! I have one from Target that I have had to repurchase about six times in the past two years because it breaks so easily, so I have linked one that appears more durable for y’all!
Joby Stick: If you purchase one of the camera bundles I have linked, then you will be getting one of these. They’re made for vlogging so you hold this with the camera attached instead of directly holding the camera. I never understood why you needed this, especially since the Canon g7x Mark ii has a grip for you to hold it with, but then I realized that whenever I switch hands while recording, I sometimes cover the mic and ruin the sound. This joby stick eliminates this issue and also acts as a great mini tripod that you can sit on a table to film or take photos!
Extra Batteries: I currently do not have an extra rechargeable battery for my camera and let me tell you, it is extremely annoying when I am in the middle of filing or out shooting and my camera dies.
Ring Light: A ring light is not completely necessary, and I don’t have one, but it would be helpful to be able to film videos at any time of day- especially with daylight savings time hitting so hard.
Bluelight Glasses: Bluelight glasses are great for anyone that spends a lot of time looking at any screen- your phone, laptop, TV, iPad, etc. These glasses protect your eyes from the damage that can be caused by the blue-light in these screens.
You can shop each of these items by clicking on the image of the individual product in the carousel below or the pink links above. Thank you so much to everyone who shops through my links- it allows me to earn a small commission doing what I love at no extra cost to you!
